Cultural Activities
The cultural activities of the centre expand in
the following fields:
1. International Artistic Meetings,
which combine research, education and artistic creation:

1.1 International Greek Drama
The international meetings on Ancient Greek Drama started in
1985 and consist of symposia, theater workshops and
performances of ancient Greek drama. Up to 1990 they were
organized on an annual base and from 1995 onwards, by decision
of the Administration Council, they are held every two years.
1.2 International Program on Fine Arts
This program started in 1998 encompassing symposia,
exhibitions, seminars and artists-in-residence at Delphi. In
1994 the program "Artistic Creation for Delphi" started. Well
known Greek and foreign artists are invited to create a work of
art especially for the E.C.C.D. The objective of this program
is the gradual creation of:
The Park of Sculpture
(Works of the Park of Sculpture)
A Collection of works of art for interior space
(paintings, murals, engravings etc.)

1.3 Artistic Events in Dance, Music, cinema etc.
These events are organized at the time when Meetings on
Ancient Greek Drama are not held. As in all E.C.C.D. Artistic
Meetings they consist of symposia, workshops and spectacle.
2. International Scientific Meetings
This field includes conferences, symposia, seminars on
extensive subjects such as Hellenic Studies, Philosophy,
Sociology, Economics, History, Archaeology, Architecture and
Environment, Mathematics, Computers, Technology etc. They
organized either by E.C.C.D. as the sole organizer or in
cooperation with other institutions at home or abroad.
3. Training Programs
These programs includes seminars and workshops, on various
cultural subjects and are addressed to specific professional
categories of people. The permanent programs on an annual base
are the following:
3.1 Ancient Greek Language and Civilization Seminars
This programme consists of two weeks seminar, which deal with
the teaching of Ancient Greek Language and Hellenic Civilization
with the use of technology systems.
3.2 European Diploma in Cultural Project Management
This programme deals with theoretic and practical training of
young executives of cultural organizations and institutes with
an at least three-year working experience. It is organized by
the Foundation Marcel Hicter, whose seat is in Brussels and is
supported by the Council of Europe, the Commission of the
European Union, the UNESCO, the French Community of Belgium and
the European Cultural Centre of Delphi.
4. New Technologies
This field embraces multimedia programs - CD ROMs - on
cultural subjects and was inaugurated with the "Encyclopaedia of
the Olympic Games"
5. Independent Research Programs
These programs are of specified duration and combine
scientific research and application. They started in 1995 with
Reconstruction of the Ancient Hydraulic Organ, the well known
musical instrument of the Hellenic Antiquity, from which
originated the Organ of the Western Church. |
